Strumbucket is a five-piece “twang-funk” band from Jackson, Wyoming known for their colorful multi-genre live shows. Drawing from a wide range of sounds, their original music weaves together funked bass grooves, banjo driven twang, latin beats, electro-psych synth lines, and classic rock guitar. Listening to the group’s offerings, one gets the sense that a good laugh is one piece of the puzzle that keeps the fun meter in check.

Forming in 2018, the band has grown outside the local Jackson music scene, playing everything from rowdy bars, local venues, and outdoor concert series supporting acts such as JoJo Herman (Widespread Panic), DJ Williams’ Shot’s Fired, Polyrhythmics, and The Ghost of Paul Revere along the way.

The band consists of Peter Henderson (drums), Lavender Jones (bass, vocals), Grove Miller (keys), Pat Bottini (lead guitar), and Alex Blackwelder (banjo, lead vocals). The band released their first full length album, Hold On, I’m Strummin’, in July of 2022.

Strumbucket is influenced by the likes of The Meters, Little Feat, and one non-mainstream band for which they’re known to cover frequently, Ween.

Garrett Benjamin is a Bozeman native who has diligently followed his passion for music for many years, his strong songwriting pays homage to the greats that came before him and is deeply rooted in bluegrass and Americana. He has honed his sound over the years by playing as many shows as he could possibly book, both solo and with dozens of other bands. When not playing, he dedicates his time to studying the art of music and teaching his knowledge to those who wish to learn from him.

Brendan Fox is a Helena native who is the son of the legendary Murphy Fox. His father instilled country, bluegrass and folk music in Brendan from an early age. His father’s influence made Brendan decide to pursue a degree in Upright Bass performance from Rocky Mountain College of music, where he graduated in 2015.

Garrett and Brendan have been playing music together since they first met in 2019, and have been the core backup band for too many bands to name here, making them a driving force of the underground music scene in Montana.

Together they make up the powerful bluegrass duo, Trout Basket.
